Santa Claus for hospice children

SERVIEW x Hackers4Good e.V.

Every year again... our friend Noèl Funke and his charity organization Hackers4Good e.V. on a very special mission: a trip to snow-covered Finnish Lapland, to the place that embodies pure magic for children all over the world - the home of Santa Claus himself. In the midst of meters of snow and sparkling northern lights lies Santa's village, a magical place that comes to life every year at Christmas time.

Noèl and his team from Hackers4Good e.V. take on this long journey to do something that is invaluable to many of the children they support: they collect Christmas greetings and presents directly from Santa Claus, which they then take to seriously ill children in hospices in Germany. These children, who are often living with terminal illnesses, spend much of their time in hospices, and for them and their families the Christmas period is a particularly difficult time, full of emotions and challenges.

We at SERVIEW have decided to actively support this wonderful campaign and work together to ensure that as many children as possible in the hospices receive a gift from Santa Claus.

Mission: To Santa Claus for the little ones

Over 700 gifts for the children

Over 700 lovingly selected and carefully wrapped gifts are provided with a real Santa Claus stamp and personal words by Hackers4Good e.V.. But it's not just the gift itself, but the magic that surrounds it: The thought that Santa Claus, who for many is the epitome of hope and joy, has thought of them. These letters not only bring a smile to the children's faces, but also a deep sense of warmth and security to their hearts and those of their families.

For many of these children and their families, the Christmas season is a time of challenges and pain. But in these special moments, they manage to put their worries aside for a moment and make room for something wonderful - hope, joy and the feeling that they are not alone.

The work of Hackers4Good e.V. is invaluable. It is these small gestures that bring light into the lives of families in difficult times. Every kilometer that Noél and his team cover on this long journey is worth it to make such precious moments of joy, happiness and hope possible. We support this great organization from the bottom of our hearts and collect donations to support their important work.

If you would like to give the gift of a little bit of Christmas magic, you can support us with a donation. Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps to put a smile on the faces of the hospice children. Together we can make a big difference and ensure that Santa Claus makes many children's hearts happy again this year.

Every participant in the SERVIEW TOOL MEETUP and Summit makes a hospice child happy

There are many reasons why it is worth attending the SERVIEW TOOL MEETUP or SERVIEW Summit - exciting topics, interesting discussions and valuable insights into the latest developments in the IT world. But starting this year, there is another very special reason: by attending on site, you will not only enrich your own knowledge, but also make a child in a hospice happy.

How does it work? It's simple: for every participant who attends our SERVIEW TOOL MEETUP or books the SERVIEW Summit, we donate €20 to the charity organization Hackers4Good e.V., which uses the money to finance a Christmas present for a hospice child and deliver it to the child on your behalf. The €20 we donate for your participation will make a gift possible, which will be lovingly wrapped and provided with a real Santa Claus stamp. But it's more than just a gift - it's a token of love, compassion and support. The children who receive these gifts know that they are not forgotten. In an often difficult and challenging time, this little token gives them a smile, a bit of hope and the feeling that the magic of Christmas has a place in their lives too.

What is a children's hospice?

A children's hospice is a specialized facility that accompanies seriously ill children and their families on their difficult journey. Contrary to what many people might think, a hospice is not just about providing end-of-life care. Rather, the focus is on providing holistic care for children suffering from incurable, life-shortening illnesses and supporting their families during this difficult time.

The task of a children's hospice

A children's hospice offers not only medical care, but also emotional, psychosocial and spiritual support. It creates a protected space in which the children and their families can experience as much quality of life as possible despite their serious illness. In a children's hospice, the child's remaining time is consciously shaped with love, care and moments of happiness. This is achieved through a mixture of care, therapeutic offers and leisure activities.

An essential part of the work of a children's hospice is to relieve parents and siblings, who are often pushed to their limits by the care and support of their sick child. Short-term stays at the hospice allow families to take a break from the stressful care and recharge their batteries. The siblings are also looked after and given space to talk about their feelings and fears.

Care at the children's hospice

Care in a children's hospice is provided by an interdisciplinary team consisting of doctors, nurses, psychologists, social workers and chaplains. Each of these professionals contributes to providing the best possible care and support, individually tailored to the needs of the child and their family.

In a children's hospice, the focus is not on prolonging life at any cost, but on alleviating pain and symptoms and creating an environment characterized by love, dignity and acceptance. The children should live as pain-free as possible and in an atmosphere of trust and security.

A place of life, not death

Although the term "hospice" is often associated with the end of life, a children's hospice is much more a place for living. The aim here is to make the remaining time as beautiful and fulfilling as possible - with laughter, games and the conscious experience of small and big moments. Even if time is limited, the memories that are created here are invaluable for the families.

Support for families

A children's hospice also offers support after the death of the child. Grief counseling for parents and siblings is an important part of hospice work. Here, families are helped to deal with their loss and are given the space and time they need to grieve. The hospice often remains an important anchor for families after the death of the child, providing them with support and understanding.
